Role Overview
As an OIM, you are the senior leader on the platform, managing both technical operations and personnel well-being. Your role ensures production targets are met, safety protocols are followed, and emergency response measures are in place. Combining leadership and technical expertise, you play a vital role in maintaining efficient and safe offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and People Management – Oversee a team of around 55 personnel, ensuring their safety, focus, and well-being.
  • Production and Operations Management – Ensure the platform meets production targets, maintain equipment, and address any operational challenges.
  • Safety and Emergency Response – Lead emergency response efforts and enforce safety regulations to protect the environment and personnel.
  • Cross-Department Coordination – Work with maintenance, drilling, production, and hospitality teams to ensure seamless platform operations.
  • Team Engagement – Foster a positive work environment, address concerns, and provide leadership to maintain high morale.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering or a related field is useful
  • Experience in offshore operations, progressing from a technical background such as a process engineer.
  • Proven ability to manage both technical and non-technical teams in an offshore setting.

Offshore Installation Manager

Katy Barr is a Chartered Chemical and Process Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specialising in offshore operations and direct operations support. She has spent more than a decade working in site-based roles, developing a deep understanding of asset management, production optimisation, and offshore leadership.

Currently serving as the Offshore Installation Manager for the Dunbar platform at TotalEnergies, Katy is responsible for overseeing safe and efficient offshore operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards. Her extensive background includes leadership roles in operations across multiple North Sea assets, where she has successfully managed production, wells, and offshore teams.

With a strong technical foundation and hands-on operational experience, Katy is dedicated to driving efficiency, safety, and performance in offshore energy production.
