Well Management

In this video, we delve into the crucial role of a Well Engineer, focusing on managing the entire life cycle of oil and gas wells, from drilling to production and decommissioning.

As a Well Engineer, your responsibilities include overseeing the planning and execution of drilling new wells, managing the production phase to ensure efficiency, and leading the decommissioning process to ensure the well is safely sealed and environmental risks are minimized. You’ll work closely with contractors and service providers during the decommissioning phase, coordinating efforts to remove equipment, place cement plugs, and secure the well.

Key responsibilities involve lifecycle management of wells, including planning new drills, overseeing production, and leading decommissioning efforts. You’ll also be tasked with creating technical drawings, calculations, and procedures to guide operations, and ensuring all activities are well-coordinated and executed smoothly. This role involves hands-on experience in an offshore environment, where you’ll tackle unique challenges and take satisfaction in safely decommissioning wells.

Qualifications typically include a degree in Energy Engineering with Environmental Management from East Anglia University, although degrees in petroleum or mechanical engineering are also accepted.
